7. Close to the Edge
12 July, 2015Even though I had experienced with several different types of banned substances, I had never really looked into the natural origin of lots of them.
I learned how to cook the Mescaline that was extracted from some types of cactus and to get the Psilocybin from mushrooms during the mushroom season. I learned how to synthesize lysergic acid and I also participated in shamanic experiences with Ayahuasca and Mescaline in the temazcals of my friend Xanti.
My next experiences were totally different, although in essence they were related since they both looked for a “no mind” state.
I got initiated into meditation from followers of the Osho school of thought. This was the definite turning point. I had never imagined that happiness doesn’t consist of learning things, but of unlearning all the stupid things that they have instilled in us since we were little.
I have a friend who has an Ashram in the Natural Park Sierra de la Demanda. She invited me to go and stay with her for a few days and I didn’t give it a second thought. I needed new experiences.
What at first was going to be a few days ended up being a few months. Once a stable, it just had a few rugs, cushions, a bit of light, some fleas and stone walls. After some time, we were able to maintain silence for 25 days. Our minds, thoughts and mental noise slowed down little by little and our senses sharpened. The sunsets were magical and everything seemed much more beautiful. When your mind switches off, happiness arises. It´s one of the most intense experiences that I have ever had, and this time with no magic plants, only sex, and in silence, so much better.
