Chapter 4: Crisis? What Crisis?
18 October, 2015The small city where I come from is less than a 2-hour car ride from Bordeaux. It’s not surprising that this beautiful city became a common destination for the symphos from my city during the 90s. This was due to the large amount of concerts that our beloved friend Jorge Pinilla (Shop33) organized. Thanks for everything Jorge!
I have some anecdotes from those days. I will never forget the adventure that we had together when we went to Bordeaux to see a very famous group named after a tobacco brand. A few hours before the concert, the guitarist, composer, singer and soul of the group was going to be signing records for his fans in Shop 33. We got there early and we were the first ones in line. I was in a deplorable condition, since I didn’t want to break the tradition of getting as drunk as I could before concerts. I went in the store, it was my turn. I greeted the musician as if I had always known him and, acting in a total natural way, I picked up one of my group’s records. I signed it right under his nose, gave it to him and left. Jorge was trying to excuse me in his bad English. The musician was looking surprised and puzzled (even more than in normal circumstances). There was laughter in the store. It was my friends, who were acting distracted and pretending not to know me. The poor things were so embarrassed! The real funny thing took place during the concert and especially afterwards, but for good reasons, I will keep the anecdote a secret since it could put some of my friends in an awkward situation.
